A section of Meru legislators has ganged up to launch a fightback over former Deputy President Gachagua over the recent sentiments made in Meru over the alleged removal of Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Rindikiri Mugambi (Buuri Constituency MP) said that Gachagua’s mission is to badmouth leaders.
‘’Rigathi Gachagua’s vision is to belittle members of parliament and we will prove him wrong by painting himself as the whole person. ’’The MPs maintained heavily that Gachagua wants to use Chief Justice Martha Koome’s for political gains.
‘’He is using the name of Martha Koome as a political tool and threatening the president that he is going to lead the demonstrations in Meru,’’ Rindikiri said.
He added, ‘’No time we have sat with Gachagua to discuss the matters of Meru Community, either Politics or economics, because he has never had time with us when he was in the government and we don’t need him to play our politics in Meru; we don’t talk much but we are united.’’
‘’We are united; we have sat with leaders in Meru, and we shall unite Meru for posterity and unity for our people and county. Gachagua is never honest and a chief tribalist; some of us were close to him and he is painting us negatively.’’
‘’We do not need Gachagua to come to speak for us; Martha Koome comes from a community, and we will speak for her; she is a professional and a chief justice and comes from Meru. We will not allow Gachagua to use a constitutional office for political benefit.’’
Moses Kirima (Central Imenti Constituency) retaliates that Gachagua is on a mission to cause chaos in the Mount Kenya region.
”Gachagua, he came through a backdoor and attacked Meru leaders. I call the Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity to look upon the incitement comments of Gachagua. If he is left free, he will be the source of Chaos in Mt. Kenya region.’’
He added, ‘’ Martha Koome went through vetting and qualified, she is a long-standing lawyer and she met the criteria to be where is at now, Martha should not be victimized on those allegations mentioned.’’
Meru County MP Elizabeth Karambu called for respect for the community.
‘’You must respect us; it was uncouth of Gachagua for the sentiments he made, I stand firm with Justice Koome and denounce the sentiments in totality.’’
UDA-nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni also joined the team to castigate the former Deputy Gachagua.
‘’Meru is not a reserve for anyone and we are behind the government of the day and re-affirm our support and remain in the government of today.’’
